Information Services Manager

Managing a department of 2 information services professionals who operate and maintain a network of 200+PCs and 12 Windows 2003/2008 servers with 30+ copiers/printers/multifunction devices.  Architect and designer of the city’s fiber and wireless network.  Network Administrator, managing the user’s network and email accounts.  Personally responsible for converting the city’s 4 domains and MS Exchange servers into 1 central domain and 1 MS Exchange 2007 server.

Assistant Information Services Manager

Managing a department of 11 information services personnel operating and maintaining 3 AS/400s, 15 Windows 2000 servers, 350+PCs and 54 networked copiers/printers.  Championed and managed the cities conversion from a workgroup to a domain based Ethernet network.  Personally build and installed the enterprise Internet system and managed the access and records.  Led the team in charge of rolling out the first e-mail system (Lotus Notes) for the municipality with over 800 users.  Managed a one million dollar payroll and departmental budget.

Naval Education and Training Center (NETC), Newport, RI        1997-1999

Branch Head Information Systems Officer Course

Supervised five senior instructors involved in training and administration of a 30-student junior military officer-training course.  Performed revisions of curriculum, student administration and testing functions.  Ensured technical user maintenance for computer labs as well as research, product ordering and instructor classroom scheduling.  As Master Training Specialist (MTS) reviewed work and instruction quality. 

Assistant Information Technology (IT) Director for NETC, Newport, RI.  Program Manager for the Academic Resources Information Center integrated online library system-$330,000 project.  Personally trained over 400 senior and junior naval officers in Information Systems Technology.

 

U.S. Southern Command, Quarry Heights, Panama                1996-1997

Communications/Electronics Systems Manager:                               

Worked closely with Central and South American Embassies and military groups monitoring and validating communications and electronic equipment requirements for operations within the South America and Caribbean area of responsibility.  Organized and coordinated message handling personnel, LAN professionals and civilian contractors, analyzing, isolating and repairing system configuration errors.

Manager for presidential directed Foreign Assistance Act 506(a)(2), distributed 3 million dollars worth of DOD equipment.  Special advisor to the embassies of Columbia, Peru and Venezuela on communication equipment compatibility issues.  Handpicked to replace a Lieutenant Commander (04) as the only Navy Warrant on the staff at SOUTHCOM.  As a member of the Crisis Action Team (CAT), briefed generals and admirals on communication connectivity.

 

Special Boat Unit TWENTY-SIX, Rodman, Panama               1994-1996

Assistant Maintenance Officer/Electronic Materials

Manager and supervisor of 40 personnel in charge of electronics, communications, combatant boat repairs and facilities.  Supervised inventories issue and repair of 3 million dollars worth of communications/electronic equipment.  Responsible for procurement and installation of all command electronic materials.  Initiated an inter-service transportation agreement with the Army saving $50,000 in commercial service costs.  Managed the periodic and emergency maintenance for 19 combatant craft and 38 vehicles.  Managed a maintenance and repair budget of $250,000.  Command Safety Officer responsible for the day-to-day work-place safety of 200 personnel.
